The New York Department of Tourism has designated Chautauqua-Allegheny as the official 2008 Winter Festival Region.


Welcome to Chautauqua County, New York’s Western Gateway
 with lakes, grapes, wineries, cultural, culinary, and resort centers,

A wonderland of winter snowfall, and some of the best festivals around.

The area benefits from bountiful lake-effect snowstorms fueled by winds off Lake Erie.

Cross-country skiing is popular as is snowmobiling.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides are available through the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution
 from 1 to 4 p.m. every weekend during January and February.

Skiers, skaters, ice fishing enthusiasts and those who enjoy peace and quiet in an idyllic setting are now coming to Chautauqua and Allegheny Counties.

Mayville ICE and Cool Jazz Festival


The annual ICE Festival, the largest winter festival in the western NY area, features an array of weekend-long activities, including kid’s slides, ice skating, fireworks; art shows, snow sculptures, snowmobile rides, rally and raffle; games; music; and a variety of family activities. It also hosts the Mayville Cool Jazz Festival, which will present national and regional Jazz and Blues acts. It is a collective effort of the Mayville-Chautauqua Area Chamber of Commerce and Mayville Events.





Plans Are Underway For Annual Mayville I.C.E. Festival

1/24/2008 Mayville Sentinel News - The Mayville/Chautauqua Chamber of Commerce and the I.C.E. Festival Committee are pleased to announce that plans are well underway for the 2008 Mayville I.C.E. Festival.
